Best mom lessons

Most of us love our mothers. They can be crazy, they can embarrass us, but at the end of the road they are there for us no matter what. They're also generally great for providing invaluable lessons that shape our lives, here are just a few of them.

Respect everyone

Ellen DeGeneres saw her career get damaged due to her disrespect for staff behind the scenes. Her bright and beautiful personality in front of important people did not match up with the people she perceived as unimportant—at least according to current allegations.

Respect for everyone from the waitress getting your drinks to the CEO of the company you work for is a valuable lesson everyone should have learned from their mom.

Kindness is key

A dash of kindness is one of the most recommended strategies across the board from mothers. The old saying goes, “You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar,” and it couldn't be more true. Even if you can drive someone to do the work by yelling and force, getting them to do it through kindness gets the job done better.

 Have a cash stash

A secret stash of money no one knows about is also important. You never know when you might need an emergency fund, and it's so much easier to keep it topped up if your family doesn't know about it. A secret fund isn't just for emergencies though, it can also be important for fulfilling our own needs and wants without having to explain yourself to others.

Be Honest

Although this one is probably a little flexible when someone asks you, “How old do you think I am?” honesty really is generally the best policy. It can be hard to keep track of what lie you told whom, and if you're caught as a liar, no one will believe you again.

Moms always have the best advice. Years of living and experience in this world have given them knowledge that they would love to pass on, and frequently do.
