Zoetis Unveils 2023 Sustainability Report: Innovations in Animal Health and Environmental Impact
Zoetis Inc. published its 2023 Sustainability Report, "Advancing Sustainability in Animal Health for a Better Future." This comprehensive report details Zoetis' progress in achieving its long-term sustainability goals under the Driven to Care initiative. The report highlights significant advancements in three key pillars: Communities, Animals, and Planet.
Key Achievements in 2023:
Community Engagement:
Colleagues reported an 81% increase in volunteer work, totaling 16,611 hours.
The Zoetis Foundation provided $8.3 million in grants, supporting 28 initiatives across 19 countries. These grants focused on advancing education, well-being, and livelihoods for veterinarians and livestock farmers.
Zoetis invested $7 million in community initiatives, reaching approximately 202,000 pet owners and 91,000 animals affected by disasters.
Innovations in Animal Health:
Zoetis launched cutting-edge diagnostic tools, vaccines, and parasiticides to support livestock producers. Key products include:
Vetscan Mastigram+™ for timely mastitis detection in dairy cattle.
Valcor™ (Dectomax V® in Australia and New Zealand) to combat resistant gastrointestinal parasites in cattle.
Fostera® Gold PCV MH vaccine to protect pigs from respiratory diseases.
ALPHA JECT® Moritella vaccine to prevent winter ulcers in Atlantic salmon.
Environmental Sustainability:
Over 30% of Zoetis' total electricity use was from renewable sources, including solar arrays at seven facilities. The company aims for 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
Replaced plastic with paperboard for rabies vaccine packaging, reducing PVC plastic use by 8.0 metric tons annually.
Implemented 38 energy efficiency projects, reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 18.9% since 2021.
