Nutrition tips for guys

A lot of women are going online trying to figure out how to get the men in their lives to eat a healthier diet. They look at tricks and ways to slip healthy food into the man’s diet without him being aware.

Guys, the best way to avoid all of that is to learn how to eat the right foods for you. The advice to follow isn’t going to be about a diet plan with a name or a fad that is going around. It is just sensible things you can do to have a healthy diet.

Men have different caloric needs than women. Depending on body size, weight and the amount of physical activity there is the calories should range from two thousand to twenty eight hundred. This should be eaten throughout the day rather than most of it at one meal. The rule of thumb there is three meals and three snacks.

Choosing what to eat is important. On average men should eat two cups of fruit, two and a half cups of vegetables and six to eight ounces of whole grains. Eating grains does not mean white bread, white rice or pasta made from white flour. These have had the bran stripped off and contain little to no fiber or nutrients.

When it comes to protein, many men think that the more meat they eat the better. This is the exact opposite of the truth. Meat should be limited to lean cuts of beef, pork, poultry, fish or shellfish. It should be eaten no more than once per day and a serving is the size of a deck of cards. When choosing animal protein, fish should be part of the meal two or three times per week.

That doesn’t mean you don’t need more protein. It means that the source needs to change. Tree nuts like almonds, cashews, walnuts and pistachios provide a lot of nutrients, healthy fats and fiber as well as protein. Seeds like hemp seeds, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds are similar. Legumes and beans of all types are healthy and fit the category.
