Five items you must have in your self-care stash

Brenda Johns

Remember when you couldn’t wait to grow up? That was pretty stupid, huh? It’s no secret that we are all busy trying to make ends meet and achieve our goals. But that shouldn’t mean that you should throw self-care on the back burner. In fact, practicing self-care does a lot for your life. It’s a way of protecting your mental health, increase productivity, and eliminate stress, among other things. Contrary to popular belief, self-care isn’t synonymous with hitting the spa, and as a matter of fact, it isn’t necessarily expensive. Getting enough sleep, eating healthy, taking the time to watch a movie all qualify as self-care. And if you want to take self-care a notch higher, you can curate your own stash of self-care items. But what should you include? Here are five self-care items ideas to get you started.

Oil diffusers

Oil diffusers are a great way to de-stress and create a calm, zen aura in your home. They can allow you improve clarity and focus, boost your mood, clear airways for easier breathing, not to forget, it infuses an alluring aroma into your home. Who wouldn’t want that?

Yoga mat

Yoga is all about healing the self through self-discovery and self-acceptance. It may not be the top option for most, but it’s one of the best ways you can slow down and remind yourself of what matters most. So grab yourself a yoga mat and introduce some gentle movement into your day-to-day routine to achieve a grounded and happy feeling.

Journal

Journaling is an excellent form of self-care that allows you to process your feelings and emotions by writing them down. Ask anyone who does it, and they’ll probably tell you that the simple act of buying a new journal usually feels like they are making a fresh start. Whether you choose a journal app or a physical journal, journaling will allow you to gain some fresh perspective on your life.

Bath bomb

There’s nothing as relaxing as a luxurious soak to wash away your day’s stresses. And for that, you’ll need a luxurious bath bomb to give you that ultimate bubble bomb experience.

Sleep mask

Sleep is an often-overlooked form of self-care. It affects our psychological well-being, physical health and metabolism. Yet, based on a Gallup research, 40% of Americans get less than the recommended hours of sleep (seven to nine hours). That said, you might benefit from a sleep mask that blocks out the light for that beauty sleep.

You can include practically anything in your self-care stash, from beauty products to essential oils. Simply find something you love because it relaxes you, and you create a self-care stash around that.
