5 quirky ways to combat quarantine fatigue

When Covid-19 first entered our lives, we watched it grow and spread with incredible focus. When it spread out of China and into other countries, we started washing our hands religiously and spraying everything with Lysol.

Then mandatory quarantines hit, and we buckled down to never leave our hoses again—for about 6 weeks. Quarantine is rough, and many people gave up to disastrous results. If you're still trying to stay safe but quarantine is driving you crazy, here are 5 quirky ways to cope.

Make art and share it

Art is part of our own self expression, and it can be a social act. Make art that is unique to you, and share it with your friends and family—online for safety. Art doesn't have to be a painting or a drawing, so don't worry if you're not good at those things. It can be as simple as making sculptures out of plastic bottle caps to woodworking or even interior design. Take pics of your dogs, set up a photography booth, what ever it takes to help beat the fatigue.

Volunteer, virtually

If you want to help but can't due to coronavirus, try volunteering online. You can offer to tutor someone, FaceTime with the elderly, or provide virtual assistance for the blind.

Brush up on your constellations

We seldom look up at the stars anymore, but if you just can't stand being in the house anymore—go outside! You may be surprised at how many constellations you see, and going outside is good for your stress levels.

Hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors are also generally safe activities (as long as you social distance) that will help pass the time and make you feel better too.

Brush up on your education

Some master classes are available for free. These classes can broaden your mind, provide training for your job, or maybe even help you see if a career change is right for you. Even if the class you take has nothing to do with work, such as a gardening class, it can still help you cope with boredom while making you feel like you're doing something constructive.

Workout

Remember how you always told yourself if you only had more time, you could get in shape and get that beach body? Why not make good on that promise and exercise to some free YouTube workouts. They're free, and many of them don't require equipment at all, just a little room to work and the sweat equity.

You finally have time, so why not do it? Even if you don't get that beach body, you'll feel better about yourself and keep busy during quarantine.

Quarantine fatigue is real. We are naturally social creatures and being unable to see each other is incredibly taxing. Understanding and recognizing your feelings are an important step to combating it, but so is doing something about it. These 5 quirky tips can help, and may end up helping you feel better as a person as well.
