Just because you're short on cash doesn't mean you need to have a blank and boring home. There are lot's of incredible items available for decorating without breaking the bank. Whether you are trying to upgrade a tiny dorm room, or your first home, here are a few amazing ways you can upgrade your room for under $20.

Live Plants

If you have a green thumb, plants can be a wonderful way to filter the air you breathe, brighten the place up, and of course, match your décor with an attractive pot. Plus, getting a live plant is relatively inexpensive. You can often find people giving away succulents and other plants for free, and you can find gorgeous pots for under $20.If you are on a very tight budget, try shopping thrift stores and being creative about the vessel. You can make a cute display by putting a succulent into a teapot and in matching cups, and there are dozens of vintage containers at thrift stores you can upcycle.

Other thrift store finds

While you're at the thrift store, it's worth looking through what they have and seeing if anything inspires you. Many thrift stores are bursting with artwork, odd pieces of furniture, and quirky objects you can decorate your home with. Keep an open eye while you're there, you never know what you might find.

If your dorm room is largely unimpressive, an LED window curtain can really make the room pop. Soft lace curtains keep this from looking too gaudy, while the light provides a fun focal point. A fun throw pillow can transform a cheap, thrift store couch from just a place to sit into apiece of home décor. If you get bored of your pillow, changing it up is as easy as buying a creative throw pillow cover and slipping it over the top of your pillows instead.You can change your pillows with the seasons, and experiment with textures and colors, all without having to change the whole couch every time you want to redecorate.

Throw blankets

While you can't swap covers with a blanket style throw, blankets are relatively inexpensive and can also change how things look in a big way. You can use them to cover up scuffs in your furniture, or change the mood of the home.

As an added benefit, you'll have lots of blankets on hand to snuggle down in for your next Netflix binge, and who doesn't love cuddly blankets?Redecorating your home can run thousands of dollars if you are looking at antiques, fine paintings, or new furniture. Fortunately, you don't need these things to make even the most modest space look beautiful. You just need a little creativity, and knowing what tools you can redecorate with.
