Five fun things to do to celebrate birthdays

Remember the last time you had a fun birthday party? If you weren't still in grade school, you probably just had too many beers to remember it. Enjoying your birthday doesn't have to be limited to children or your 21st, nor does it even have to be in the form of a traditional birthday party.

Travel:

Traveling somewhere for your birthday can do wonders. You could fly off to somewhere you’ve never been before or go see friends and relatives that live in other states. Your parents, grandparents and other relatives will be happy to see you.

Park Party

If that isn’t feasible for one reason or another you could plan a day party at a local park. It could be a pot luck, where you provide the basics and people bring food or you can have it catered. Most parks have shelters with picnic benches in case of rain or hot weather. You can bring a barbecue grill or hibachi if food needs to be grilled or you can use the grills most parks have.

Bon Fire

In areas where fires are allowed a bonfire could be fun. If it’s warm you can have an ice chest or bucket with drinks in them. S’mores are still yummy as an adult, though you might want to upgrade the chocolate.

 Day Adventure

A day adventure is another good plan. It can be a day hike on nearby trails or a trip to a city near you. Many areas have theme parks within a few hours’ drive. Those can be just as fun for an adult as they are for children. For an adult these parks sometimes offer restaurants with international cuisine, something that may be lost on a child.

 Water fun

A lot of the country has some body of water near enough to drive to. Rivers, creeks, large ponds, lakes and the coastline have things to do near them. You could go to the beach, take a river cruise, go fishing or just hike along them.
