Bounce for Better Health

As children, the chance to jump on a trampoline was one of our favorite pastimes. The uplifting feeling of flying through the air was something we eagerly looked forward to on any given day. Now, the joy of trampolines are coming to gyms everywhere, with trampoline classes designed to get your heart pumping and your legs burning.

Trampoline fitness has a range of benefits to it, besides the fact that it's fun, of course. Here are some great reasons why you should give it a try.

It's perceived as easier than a regular workout

A small but fascinating study conducted on trampoline fitness discovered that although a trampoline workout might have the same intensity as another form of exercise, it was perceived as less difficult. While scientists aren't sure why this is the case yet, it could be because bouncing doesn't feel as hard as other movements, and it is more fun to do so.

It's great cardio

Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a raw beginner, trampoline fitness can help improve your heart strength. To be fair though, you can get similar benefits from other cardiovascular exercises such as the treadmill.

You probably haven't been on a trampoline since you were a kid, but if you've been looking for a new way to workout that will both get you sweaty and put a smile on your face, give a trampoline workout a try. Check your local gym for a trampoline class, also sometimes referred to as a “Rebound” class.
