What to look for in a podcast
Podcasts are a great way to entertain yourself while on the go. Most of us really enjoy listening to entertainment of some kind when we work out or have a long commute, and podcasts are a great way to change things up. If you're looking for a great new podcast to try, here are a few tips to get you started.
Find a topic that interests you
If you are interested in health and wellness, a podcast on all the greatest junk food in New York City probably isn't going to be interesting to you. The best podcasts should be in a topic you think you'll enjoy. If you are a veterinary professional, you will love Vet Candy’s Podcast hosted by twin veterinarians, Dr. Jen and Dr. Jason Chatfield. The show is an unfiltered look at our profession with the most exciting guests.
Not sure where to look? Try a podcast search engine
There are actually lots of websites that cater toward finding podcasts. One of these is “Listen Notes,” a service that has as many as 500,000 different podcasts for you to browse. You can also just use Google however, by typing the topic you are interested in as well as podcast to find what you're looking for.
Try a variety
Podcasts are usually free to listen to. You have nothing to lose by listening to one or two in the topic of your interest. If you think a podcast sounds interesting, give it a whirl. If you don't like it, you can always move on.
Finding a podcast can seem a little confusing first, but once you become familiar with the apps available for downloading them, you shouldn't have any trouble. You'll find a podcast by a person you enjoy listening to, in a topic you find fascinating, if you just look.
Podcasts are a great way to turn your commute from a boring grind to an interesting event. If you haven't tried them already, you should.
