Dr. Julie Buzby is focused on a happy and balance life

Does your dog slip, slide, and skid across the floor?

For pets with mobility challenges, walking can be difficult. This in turn makes a simple daily task (like going potty outside, running to greet you at the door, and moving from room to room in the house) next to “im-paw-sible.”

Or at least, it was before…

Now, thanks to the brilliant minds behind ToeGrips, dogs can walk easier.

Whether it’s age, arthritis, injury, surgery, or disability, Dr. Julie Buzby is there to help pups live their best lives.

In addition to being a graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Buzby is a holistic veterinarian who integrates the best of Western medicine, alternative therapies, and creative tools for maximum wellness in her patients. She’s also the Founder and CEO of Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips!

Vet Candy is thrilled to have had the opportunity to interview Dr. Julie.

Today, she talks about balancing being a wife, mom, veterinarian, entrepreneur, and friend. She also shares the change she would like to see in the world and gives readers some down-to-earth advice.

Introducing, the creative canine solution CEO, Dr. Julie Buzby!

Qualities for a Happy and Balanced Life

Self-control. Humility. Honesty. Kindness. Courage. Resilience. Old-fashioned grit.

These are some of the qualities that Dr. Julie admires in others.

But when it comes to her own success, she says “dogged determination” as well as a “love for change” are what propelled her forward. Not to mention, the ability to function well on little sleep (something many veterinarians can surely relate to!)

Despite the long hours and restless nights, vet med professionals often make doing it all look easy.

However, Dr. Julie Buzby knows the truth. She sees just how much effort goes into running a business and still being a good partner and/or parent. That’s why she respects working mothers so much.

She explains:

“I wholeheartedly admire vet moms because they do two FT jobs and have to keep all the balls in the air on a daily basis...while staying sane.”

Vet Candy agrees!

Day in and day out, the women of vet med never cease to inspire us!

Unplug from Technology Every Now and Again

In addition to fixing dog mobility issues, Dr. Julie Buzby is also interested in fixing our obsession with technology.

Believe it or not, research shows the average person spends a total of 3 hours and 15 minutes on their phone each day.

Dr. Buzby says, “Because I see this as an issue in my own family, I'd like the world to be less dependent on technology for entertainment and mental stimulation, and instead invest more time in electronic-free activities like family time, playing outside, reading books, and making things.”

Luckily, she has plenty of ideas about how to unplug.

“We can get there by instilling a love for learning and exploration in our kids, waiting as long as possible to give kids cell phones, reading aloud to our kids as a part of our daily or weekly routine, and setting a good example with our own screen time,” she suggests.

Dr. Julie’s final words of wisdom?

Don't worry so much about what other people think.

“Do the right thing,” she says. “Live with a clear conscience. And don't worry about what you cannot change.”
