Bacteriuria prevalence in dogs with kidney disease.

A retrospective study of 201 dogs with chronic kidney disease were evaluated for the prevalence of positive urine culture. The samples were collected by cystocentesis. 32% of the dogs (65) had positive urine culture, but only 8% showed clinical signs of a urinary tract infection. Esherichia coli was the most common isolate found (67%).
