Hip dysplasia in cats

Researchers evaluated 20 years of radiographic data from 5038 pedigree-registered Maine Coon cats. The prevalence of hip dysplasia was 37.4%, with no sex predilection. Severity was shown to increase with age and body mass.

Selective breeding was shown to reduce the severity of symptoms in descendants.
