Hypocholesterolemia in cats
A study evaluated the clinicopathologic findings and associated diseases found in 106 hypocholesterolemic cats. The median age of the cats was 6 years with an age range of 4 months to 18 years. The most common clinical signs of disease included gastrointestinal (25.9%), hepatobiliary (19.8%), hematologic (14.8%) and urogenital (14.8%).
Researchers found that the serum cholesterol values did not differ between survivors and non-survivors, although cats with concurrent hypoalbuminemia were at higher risk of not surviving to discharge than those with normal values.
