Why you need to add purpose to your life
Sometimes it can feel like we're just drifting, and that time is slipping by with us going nowhere. Perhaps you've had a big life event, and you know you need to make changes in order to get more out of your life. If you feel like you need more purpose in your life, here are a few great ways to decide what to focus on.
Narrow down what is most important to you
If there were no limits in terms of money or ability, what would you do with your life? Even if you can't actually sail around the world or solve the climate change crisis, they can give you important clues to what matters most to you.
Keep a list of things you are grateful for
You can't get where you are going without being where you've been. It may seem backwards to give your life more purpose by looking at what you already have, but taking a moment to feel grateful for what you have, even if its as simple as a warm cup of coffee, can help you focus your life more.
Ask yourself why you think you need more purpose
Having more purpose in your life is always beneficial, but it's also important to figure out why you feel you need more. What is wrong with your life that makes you feel like it could be more? If you're unhappy with your life, it's important to understand that happiness and purpose are not the same thing.
If you're constantly unhappy, it may be that you need to talk to your doctor about depression, and that adding purpose won't help. If you simply feel like you want to do more, making a goal and reaching it may be a great place to start.
