Learn more about the USDA student loan assistance program

Rural America is in need of veterinary care, with nearly 200 regions across 44 states officially designated as food animal veterinary shortage areas. USDA is calling for applications to the veterinary medicine loan repayment program. Those accepted received loan assistance if they commit to practicing in areas with shortages of veterinary services.

The nomination period for the fiscal year 2020 runs from October 7th through November 11th. See below for details:

The Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program

The VMLRP will pay up to $25,000 each year towards qualified educational loans of eligible veterinarians who agree to serve in a NIFA-designated veterinarian shortage situation for a period of three years. To learn more about the VMLRP, click on the links below.
