Long Island University’s Vet College Gets a Major Name Change—and It’s All Thanks to 2 Iconic Animal Rights Philanthropists!
Long Island University’s Veterinary College will now bear the name of renowned philanthropists Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt, founders of North Shore Animal League, in recognition of their commitment to animal welfare. A $20.5 million partnership with the Lewyt Trust will fund scholarships, support training centers at animal shelters, and host community outreach programs. This partnership will have a lasting impact on veterinary students and the local community, continuing the Lewyts’ legacy of humane care for animals.
