Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Orange County opens new 10,000 Square Foot Facility

Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Orange County (VSSOC), a leader in advanced veterinary surgical care since 1990, is proud to announce the opening of its new, state-of-the-art Surgery Center, just a few doors down from its flagship hospital.

VSSOC provides a wide range of progressive surgical services, including cardiothoracic, emergency/trauma, oncologic, minimally invasive, neurologic, orthopedic, reconstructive, and soft tissue. Additional services include PennHIP screening and various diagnostic imaging modalities.

The Surgery Center provides:

  • Five board-certified veterinary surgeons

  • Seven days a week access

  • 10,000 square feet of space

  • Five private exam rooms and 10 pre- and postoperative treatment bays

  • A sterile corridor and surgery suites equipped with UV-c technology that sterilizes the air and surfaces continually for optimal infection control

  • Five surgical suites equipped with advanced patient monitoring and Nuvo Vu Surgical LED Light systems

  • Inpatient and outpatient radiology suites

  • Two digital radiograph tables that lower to accommodate larger patients and standing radiographs for weight-bearing studies

  • A 128-slice CT scanner for diagnostics and surgical planning

  • Onsite laboratory and pharmacy

  • 20 oversized canine recovery suites and kennel runs

  • Isolated feline ward

  • 24/7 patient hospitalization/monitoring

Two additional features help make VSSOC an exceptional veterinary specialty practice. First is the longevity of its employees, many of whom have been with the practice for 10 to 20+ years. Some have even worked alongside founders Diane Craig, DVM, DACVS, and Richard Pankowski, DVM since its inception. Second, VSSOC has long supported local and regional shelters and rescue organizations, including the Noble Friends Foundation for OC Animal Care, by providing discounted care to homeless pets.

“We’re excited to move into this new location, where our surgeons can continue to provide a level of personalized surgical care and service that is far beyond the norm and unique to veterinary medicine,” said Dr. Diane Craig. "As pet owners, we recognize the critical importance of providing a contemporary surgical environment, supported by a team of skilled and compassionate professionals dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care for ill or injured animals. We have meticulously considered every aspect of our Center's design and operations, and we are confident that we are well-equipped to care for the surgical needs of pets both now and in the years to come."

The VSSOC Surgery Center location is in close proximity to their original building where AVSG Internal Medicine and Emergency & Critical Care still resides. This site also affords access to nearby board-certified veterinary specialists in cardiology, dermatology, and oncology when a multi-specialty approach is required.
