Zoetis Announces Partnership with Arthritis Foundation to Raise Awareness of Osteoarthritis Pain in Pets

Today, in recognition of Pain Awareness Month, Zoetis and the Arthritis Foundation have announced a two-year partnership to raise awareness of and provide educational resources about the most common type of arthritis pain, known as osteoarthritis (OA) pain. While OA in humans is well-known, many people are not aware of how common OA – and the pain it causes – is in cats and dogs.

“The sad reality is nearly 40% of dogs and cats,1,2 respectively, suffer from osteoarthritis. Everyday activities can be painful for them and even worse, we may miss the subtle signs of this pain, which negatively impacts their wellbeing and the special bond we share with them. That’s why early detection and the control of OA pain is so important,” said Ester Banque, Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Operations, Zoetis. “We’re excited to be partnering with the Arthritis Foundation as our organizations share an unwavering dedication to improving lives through scientific innovation and nurturing the world by advancing care – whether those in need have two legs or four.”

Zoetis, which has a more than 25-year legacy in pet pain management, currently has two innovative treatment options available that are labeled for the control of OA pain in pets – Librela® (bedinvetmab injection) for dogs and Solensia® (frunevetmab injection) for cats.

As part of the partnership, Zoetis will participate as the National Presenting Sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run in 2024 and 2025, as well as Walk to Cure Arthritis events in 2025 and 2026, providing educational resources and tools to pet owners about how to recognize the signs and symptoms of OA pain in their dogs and cats.

"We are deeply appreciative of Zoetis’ generous support and look forward to their onsite participation at several Jingle Bell Run and Walk to Cure Arthritis events in communities around the United States,” said Steven Taylor, Arthritis Foundation President and CEO. “Studies show that spending time with beloved pets can provide real physical and mental health benefits for people with arthritis, and we are pleased to have the support and partnership of the largest global animal health company.”
