Zoetis Shatters Glass Ceiling: First Animal Health Company to Win Global Catalyst Award for Empowering Women!

Zoetis has been named a 2024 Catalyst Award winner for its global initiative, "Awareness and Action Drives Impact," which promotes equity for women and other marginalized groups within the organization. This prestigious recognition makes Zoetis the first animal health company and one of only two organizations globally to receive the award this year.

Kristin Peck, CEO of Zoetis, expressed her honor in receiving the award, highlighting the company's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). Peck emphasized Zoetis' dedication to fostering a culture of equity and belonging, with a focus on creating a diverse and inclusive animal health industry.

Key aspects of Zoetis' initiative that garnered the Catalyst Award include:

  • Global Culture with Regional Customization: Zoetis adheres to Core Beliefs and a global focus on inclusion, promoting a sense of belonging and expanding opportunities worldwide, while addressing specific regional needs.

  • Inclusion in Frontline Roles: Women occupy pivotal leadership positions in manufacturing and sales. Zoetis provides clear career paths and development plans to all frontline staff, ensuring equal advancement opportunities.

  • Colleague Resource Groups (CRGs): These groups play a vital role in creating a diverse, inclusive environment, positively impacting business and community. CRGs unite colleagues with common backgrounds and interests to achieve goals aligned with Zoetis’ strategic priorities, while also informing leadership about challenges faced by different groups.

  • Talent Processes: Zoetis has implemented impactful talent processes, both externally and internally. Externally, partnerships with organizations like INROADS and MANRRS help promote animal health careers and increase diverse talent recruitment. Internally, the company focuses on succession planning and provides access to sponsors, mentors, and leadership development.

From 2020 to 2023, Zoetis saw significant increases in women's representation globally: from 47% to 50% in senior and mid-level roles, and from 44% to 49% in other organizational levels, including frontline positions. Additionally, women's representation on the Board of Directors increased from 36% to 42%, with representation of women from marginalized racial and ethnic groups rising from 9% to 17%.

Zoetis underwent a thorough examination by Catalyst, demonstrating measurable results benefiting women across various dimensions. This included intensive on-site interviews to understand colleagues' experiences resulting from the initiative.

Zoetis will be celebrated at the Catalyst Awards Conference & Gala on Tuesday, March 12, in New York City. This year's theme, "The Catalyst Effect," honors the collective impact of individuals committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, underscoring the transformative power of collective action in these areas.
