Urethral obstruction and urolithiasis associated with patent urachus in a 12-week-old kitten.
A 12-week-old intact male domestic shorthair kitten presented to a veterinary clinic with history of dysuria. The patient was diagnosed with a urethral obstruction that was relieved with urinary catheter placement.

Visual external exam plus a abdominal radiograph contrast study revealed a patent urachus .
Surgery was performed and the patent urachus was excised, and cystic and urethral calculi were removed.
Following surgery, then patient has 12 hours of stranguria occurring 2 days postoperatively . Analysis of the calculi revealed struvite stones. The kitten was considered recovered and within 3 months postoperatively, the kitten had only one episode of hematuria and inappropriate urination, which resolved with a short course of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
