Tooth brushing versus dental toys...who wins?
The Journal of Small Animal Practice published a study that evaluated the effectiveness of three dental plaque control methods for dogs. The study revealed that daily tooth brushing was three times as effective at controlling plaque compared to a daily dental chew or a dental diet. And there was no significant difference between the daily dental chew and the dental diet’s plaque controlling ability. Does this mean that pet owners are going to start brushing their dog’s teeth every single day? We don’t think so either, but at least we are certain that they should!
